Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Ryland Barton. The US says it's launching strikes on Iran after it says Iran attacked commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command says in a statement that, quote, "Iran's aggression was unwarranted, dangerous, and a clear violation of the ceasefire." The US also revoked a license that als- authorized the sale of Iranian oil today. The US Treasury had authorized Iran to produce, deliver, and sell oil through August 21st after talks last month seeking a final deal to end the war. A new lawsuit accuses the Department of Homeland Security of sharing asylum application details with the government of Iran. As NPR's Jimena Bustillo reports, the allegations are based on interviews with detainees and undisclosed testimony with an Iranian official.

In a statement provided to NPR, ICE says the allegations that ICE shared asylum application records with the Iranian government are false. Kirkpatrick says the Trump administration has so far sent three deportation flights and over 100 people to Iran. Others have been deported to so-called third countries
