Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Wilman. Fire crews in Colorado are continuing to work a blaze that's now consumed more than seventy-four thousand acres. Officials say the Aspen Acres fire has destroyed more than one hundred and sixty structures and forced the evacuation of thousands of residents. Custer County Sheriff Lloyd Smith says they're getting more equipment to help Ninety extra fire engines coming from as far away as, uh, California, Utah, and Grand Junction.

The fire is one of about forty uncontained large fires burning mostly in the Western US this weekend. Among them is the Cottonwood Fire in Utah, which has burned one hundred and forty-seven square miles. The Trump administration has elected not to extend a trade deal between the US, Canada, and Mexico, but there's still a decade to renegotiate. As NPR's Camila Domonoske reports, the agreement is especially important to US automakers.
