Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. US planes hit Iranian missile and drone storage locations, as well as coastal radar sites Sunday. It's the second day of attacks since Iran hit a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz this past week. Iran has now retaliated by launching a drone assault on Bahrain, which is home to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet. Tehran has also launched attacks on other US sites in Kuwait. Iran called these latest strikes a firm response to the US attacks. The death toll from Venezuela's devastating earthquakes continues to rise as aid now begins to arrive. NPR's Aida Peralta has more.

The government said the death toll had risen to a thousand four hundred and thirty, with nearly three thousand five hundred injured, but those figures are predicted to rise. Cargo planes carrying emergency aid are now beginning to land in Venezuela after the main airport in Caracas partially reopened to relief flights. US officials say they hope to deliver the first mobile hospitals as rescue workers continue to battle unstable rubble and damaged infrastructure in search of survivors. In one of the few moments of hope, a newborn baby was rescued from the rubble in the Venezuelan city as teams and civilians alike continued digging through collapsed buildings.
