    Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor Johnston. Congress has passed the largest housing affordability bill in decades. NPR's Steven Bisaha reports the legislation won bipartisan support in both the House and Senate.

    A federal appeals court has cleared the way for the White House to expand a fast-track deportation process for people who are in the US illegally. NPR's Vanessa Romo reports it's a major win for the Trump administration.

    For more than a decade, expedited removal had only been used in cases where migrants were detained within a hundred miles of the southern border, or if they'd been in the country for less than two years. In all other cases, unauthorized migrants were granted the same due process rights that apply to anyone in the country, regardless of citizenship
