    Live from NPR News in Washington. I'm Korva Coleman. President Trump's in France attending the G7 Summit. He says the US is ready to sign a deal with Iran to stop the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. But the text of an agreement has not been published. Now, Iran's state-run news agency insists the first clause in the agreement says attacks on Lebanon must end. Israel has been attacking Iran's proxy militia Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israel's ambassador to the US, Michael Leiter, says the deal is only a memo of understanding.

    It's not a deal. It's an MOU to discuss a deal. So we're encouraged by the fact that the president has been consistently unequivocal about preventing Iran from achieving, uh, a nuclear weapon, and we're very encouraged about that. We're less encouraged about the fact that it seems that Lebanon has been included in the agreement with Iran, and we think that that's, uh, unnecessary.

    He spoke to NPR's Morning Edition. Stocks opened higher this morning amid signs of an ongoing slump in the housing market. NPR's Scott Horsley reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose about two hundred eighty points in early trading.

    Home builders broke ground on almost sixteen percent fewer homes in May than they did the month before. Most of that slowdown was in apartment construction. The drop in single-family starts was less than two percent. Building permits, which are seen as a guide to future construction, were down less than one percent. A survey by the National Association of Home Builders shows builders' confidence remains
