President Trump says an agreement with Iran, which includes opening the critical Strait of Hormuz, is, in his words, "largely negotiated," but the memorandum of understanding still needs finalization. Iran reports the draft is a framework agreement for more negotiations. NPR's Phil Myrie reports.

    He went on to say final aspects and details of the deal are currently being discussed. So it's, it's clear that it's not nailed down. It's, it has not been approved by everybody, and we don't know a lot of the things that would be in it. He did say that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened, but there is no mention of Iran's nuclear program, and obviously that has been one of the key elements that President Trump has been demanding.

    The agreement calls for the U.S. to end the blockade of Iranian ports and for two months of negotiations on the status of Iran's nuclear program. The Secret Service says a man is dead after he approached a White House security checkpoint Saturday evening and fired several shots at officers. Agents shot and killed the suspect. A bystander was also struck. It's not clear if that person was hit by the gunman or by the return fire. President Trump was inside the White House, but the Secret Service says no agents or people it protects were impacted by the shooting.
