'No one at work knew I was dating Rob Mills' with Georgie Tunny
6/29/202652 min
Hello!
Today, we're joined by the wonderful Georgie Tunny. Georgie is a highly regarded broadcaster, podcast host, and now author of her debut novel Over To You!
In this conversation, Georgie opens up about navigating ambition in one of Australia’s most competitive industries, and how a trip to NYC gave her the realisation that she doesn’t need to do it all before she starts a family. She speaks about the importance of embracing authenticity and how this changed the course of her career, the heartbreaking end of her dream job at The Project, and the challenge of staying friends with people you're also competing against.
Georgie also talks about why her relationship with fiancé Rob Mills has helped her slow down and appreciate life’s biggest moments, as well as their plans for the (very near) future.
If you’d like to support Georgie, you can buy her book Over To You here or at any good bookstore. You can also check out Georgie’s podcast with Abbey Gelmi, Two Good Sports, here!

When I met Robert, I was like, "Oh, no," I would actually be, like, doing a disservice to humanity if there wa- if there weren't more of you.
Ruby Hall· Host0:12
Mm-hmm.
Georgie Tunny· Guest0:12
The threat of my career even stopping for a bit, I've, like, refused to entertain.
Ruby Hall· Host0:17
You worry that you might be- Yeah ... become irrelevant.
Georgie Tunny· Guest0:19
Yeah, you worry that you might get, honestly, replaced. 50 ambitious people in a room, there's one job, it's gonna be a bloodbath. It kind of occurred to me, I said it, and it was the first time I truly believed that, oh, okay, I can still achieve all the things that I want- Mm ... but I don't necessarily have to have accomplished them before having children. I had an interview with an A league player, and he had a panic attack on live TV, and I just remember being like, "Oh, my God, what do I do?"
