[scary music] Ever since Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, often called the modern Prometheus, the majority of man-made monster stories have in some way been a spin on the Prometheus myth. A character defies God and nature by seeking power, knowledge, creating life, and ultimately being punished. In 2012, director Ridley Scott returned to his Alien universe to tell a Promethean story. By exploring the origins of the infamous Space Jockey in his original 1979 horror classic, Ridley Scott created a new sci-fi saga told across two movies that explored creation, gods, science, artificial intelligence, and what it means to be human. [scary music] Join me as we continue exploring the evolution of man-made monsters, and we discuss Ridley Scott's divisive Alien prequels, Prometheus and Alien Covenant.
