Kilian Korth Injury Update, Rachel Entrekin's New Deal, Sage vs Cam Goes to USADA (Singletrack News)

5/25/202643 min

It was a heavy week in trail running, to say the least. Katie Schide officially withdraws from Hardrock as her foot injury rehab continues, and Kilian Korth faces season-ending surgery on a peroneus longus tendon tear that took place during this year's Cocodona 250.

Then the Cam Hanes situation. After Hanes admitted to using banned peptide BPC 157 in an Instagram thread following his 2:39 Eugene Marathon, Sage Canaday filed a USADA tip. We break down the ethics of doping enforcement below the pro tier and what Cam's outsized influence on the sport means for any resolution.

Plus: Rachel Entrekin's new multi-year Norda deal through 2029, Rachel Drake's record-shattering FKT on the West Grandeur Ascent, Will Peterson ending his Appalachian Trail FKT attempt at the Mason-Dixon line, ASICS opening a year-round UTMB training base in Les Houches, results from Leavenworth Trailfest and the Golden Trail World Series, plus a Twisted Fork Trail Festival preview.

This is the Monday, May 26th edition of Singletrack News, joined by friend, colleague, Alyssa Clark. Alyssa, how are you doing today? Where are you today?

  2. Alyssa Clark· Host0:07

That's a great question. So I'm up in June Lake, which honestly that was almost gonna be my piece of the week is just how amazing June Lake is. It's a little bit north, about 20 minutes north of Mammoth. There's a beautiful ski area, which I shouldn't be telling anyone about. Probably gonna get hate for this 'cause it's awesome. Uh, but it's actually a part of the Mammoth 200 course. They go through Lee Vining and then come down and run through the actual town of June Lake and then up the mountain. So it is, it's a lot like Uray. It's kind of this amphitheater surrounded by mountains type feeling. So up here for a wedding, and gosh, I would move here in a second. How are you doing, Finn?

  3. Finn Melanson· Host0:49

I'm doing great. We are officially in Twisted Fork Trail Fest week here in the Salt Lake Park City area, and honestly feeling pretty good. I was telling you offline, weather's looking good. There's excitement. Uh, I just got done last night in final prep for this podcast. I, I turned on a couple, uh, episodes that we had to, to listen to in prep here and did a little bit of trail work on one of our more remote sections, and yeah, I think we're in, we're in a good spot. So things are looking good, but I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm looking forward to being on the other side of the event stuff 'cause I think any race director will tell you there's, even when things are going good, there's still just this like minimum
