July 1, 2026: Schenn is back as Canucks get into action on UFA Day

7/2/20261 hr 2 min

Happy Canada day!! It's also free agent day in the NHL so Matt and Blake have you all covered with the latest signings for the Canucks and from around the league. The Canucks bolster the blueline with a familiar face in Luke Schenn but what will that mean for the young defencemen and opportunity? The guys debate the worth of the incoming forwards like Cotter and Thomas, and they continue to monitor the trade situations swirling around the club. We hear from reporters Jeff Paterson and Rob Williams, and we look around the NHL to see how the rest of the league treated free agency with so much cap space in the system. All that, plus the guys look at Canada's prep for Morocco, the Whitecaps suffer an injury, and the Vancouver Canadians will get a suprise start from Cy Young winner Max Scherzer??!

This is gonna be so unreal for Vancouver, Blake. I'm picturing the city absolutely packed, the bars packed, jerseys throughout the town, and watching soccer matches all day long. The city is gonna have such a cool vibe during the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Now, I, I know both of us have traveled to sporting events before, for work and for fun, and I know we agree that it is just a different experience when you're in a part of town, in a home- Mm-hmm ... that gives you the real flavor of the city, and that's why we prefer staying in homes on Airbnb.

And that's what makes a tournament like this so much fun, though. You are mingling and being surrounded by the energy of a city as opposed to just your friends and the people that you traveled with. And Blake, you know I want to show Vancouver off to all these visitors. My neck of the woods, Kits Beach, West Fourth, even, uh, Greektown- Okay.

along, uh, Broadway. And during [laughs] something like the FIFA World Cup 2026 where you stay becomes part of the experience. Having a place where everyone can just hang on out after the match, before the match, relive the game, look forward to the game, experience the city together, and make the trip feel more memorable.

  6. Blake Price· Host1:17

A- and honestly, if you're coming to Vancouver for FIFA World Cup 2026, why not stay somewhere that lets you get more deeply connected to the city? Create more memories.

  7. Matt Sekeres· Host1:25

    Yeah.
