Jays Settle for Series Split vs. Twins in Minnesota

5/3/202646 min

Sho Alli and Jesse Rubinoff break down the Blue Jays' 4-3 loss vs. the Twins to wrap up the four-game series in Minnesota with a series split. They take your calls and texts, and discuss one of the highest leverage moments of the game in Tyler Heineman not being pinch hit for with the bases loaded in the sixth inning - why wasn't he removed in that moment, only to be taken out of the game in the bottom of the sixth for Brandon Valenzuela? Could Valenzuela be overtaking Heineman after all moving forward? They also get into an uneven start for Trey Yesavage, who still only allowed one earned run over four innings of work - how important was it that he battled despite a loss? Plus, they get into a few updates from the minors, including another tough Bisons start for José Berríos, and Addison Barger getting closer to a big league return.

[upbeat music] Well, Jesse, this one got exciting in a real hurry. It was somewhat uneven for most of the game, I'd say. But the Jays mounting a mini comeback in the top of the ninth inning. Kazuo Okamoto blasting a two-run shot off Justin Topa, his third straight game with a home run. Jays putting runners on first and second with one out to show some life right at the end of the game. Lenin Sosa grounds into a double play to end things. As a result- Mm ... the Jays leaving Minneapolis with a series split following a 4-3 loss today. They fall to 16 and 18 on the season, with three against the Rays looming down at Tropicana Field.
