It's not done

4/20/202641 min

Amy Lawrence and Adrian Clarke join Ian Stone to discuss Arsenal’s 2-1 loss away to Manchester City on Sunday.

The panel reflect on the positive performance despite the loss, feeling encouraged for the run-in, the improved balance of the starting eleven, the impact of missing the first choice starters on the right hand side, the lack of consistency in attack this season, the decision to take off Eze, recognising what Arsenal are up against in Manchester City and this team doing a lot right despite having fallen short in the last few title races.

Plus, they pay tribute to Alex Manninger and respond to some listener messages.

[upbeat music] The only way to score is, of course, to play, uh, is a Handbrake Off.

  3. Ian Stone· Host0:12

Hello, I'm Ian Stone. This is Handbrake Off, the Arsenal podcast brought to you by The Athletic. Yeah, we're gonna be talking about losing 2-1 away at Manchester City yesterday. I'm joined by Adrian Clarke and Amy Lawrence. Good morning.

  4. Amy Lawrence· Panelist0:28

    Morning.

  5. Adrian Clarke· Panelist0:28

    Good morning.

  6. Ian Stone· Host0:29

Good morning. Me and Av- Amy have already had a half-hour chat [laughs] this morning. We're just gonna continue that on here. Yeah, Declan Rice at the end was seen saying to Martin Ødegaard, "It's not done." He looked properly pissed off at the end, right? And I'm pleased about that. What did you guys say at the full time whistle? Adrian, what did you say?

  7. Adrian Clarke· Panelist0:49

Something similar, I think. Yeah. L- d- just try, just trying to recollect it, but yeah, my reaction, I was, I was on commentary duty with Dan Roebuck, and I think [laughs] I might have almost said th- those exact words. "It's not done, you know? That was better." I think that was along the lines of sort of my wrap. That was much better. It could've gone either way. I think that line was uttered [laughs] sort of a flip of the coin game. So yeah, it looks, it's very, very similar. That was my feeling. I was obviously gutted, but I wasn't as downcast as I imagined I would be because I saw plenty more good things than maybe I expected.

  8. Ian Stone· Host1:26

Yeah. I will say that I said two things at the final whistle.
