Introducing Sisters of Defiance, with Anita Rani

5/18/20263 min

What happens when women stop playing safe? In Sisters of Defiance nourished by Ancient + Brave, Anita Rani sits down with extraordinary women who have challenged expectations, broken rules, taken risks and refused to live according to anybody else’s idea of who they should be.

Through honest, joyful conversations, guests reflect on the moments that made them: the first acts of defiance, the failures, the turning points, and what it really took to keep going when life got complicated.

Here we celebrate women who’ve gone their own way, who have taken the reins and pushed for change.

This is about sharing wisdom passed down through generations, and hearing from women who have been bold enough to say ‘no’ and ‘yes’ when it matters most.

To all the former little girls who refused to sit quietly in the corner looking pretty: this is your invitation to live life on your own terms.

All 10 episodes of Series 1 will drop weekly on Tuesdays.

You're literally in my home, and, uh, this is where I sit to talk to my guests every week. I recognize that I am the first woman in my entire bloodline to have a voice and a choice about how I live my life, and I am exercising both of them. But this podcast is the first time in my career that I am really doing something that I wanna do, and it is really all me. I believe that the more we hear about acts of courage, bravery, wisdom, women who have defied the system, who have rebelled, who have decided to go and do things their own way, it gives me heart, and it gives me confidence, and I reckon it would do the same for you. So when I was born, my dad bought a crate of champagne, and my grandma said, "We don't celebrate girls." And I've been challenging that sentence my entire life. Don't celebrate girls? We should be putting women on a pedestal and allowing them to shout their heads off. Essentially, Sisters of Defiance is building a community. It's creating a space in a world where, I don't know about you, but I'm feeling increasingly powerless, where I hope we have a space where we can grow our superpowers. We can get together and say,
