[upbeat intro music] G'day, welcome to Kentie Blitz, your daily hit of NRL news. And Kentie, some huge news that's just been released out of, uh, the Brisbane Broncos with Dean Mariner requiring limb-saving surgery.
Paul Kent· Host0:12
Lim- I, I haven't heard that phrase before in, uh, in rugby league terms, Woz. Yeah, apparent- Well, look, we all know he got injured on the weekend.
Warren Smith· Host0:19
Mm.
Paul Kent· Host0:20
He, he corked his thigh, which is a very common rugby league inju- Ah ... injury. Went off the field. Broncos suffered a couple of other injuries. Michael McGuire, uh, got out the big stick again and said, "Send him back out."
Warren Smith· Host0:33
Mm.
Paul Kent· Host0:34
And, uh, and we, we've since found out that what happened was essentially- Well, Mag- Magus said that the player wanted to go out. Well, players do too, but sometimes players probably need to be saved from themselves- Right.
Warren Smith· Host0:45
Yep ...
Paul Kent· Host0:45

Warren Smith· Host0:56
Right.
Paul Kent· Host0:56
It, it differs with everybody. Uh, so if you can, if you can run still, uh, you, you play. If, if you can't run, you don't play. Simple as that. Now, I did find it interesting, though, when Mariner went off the field, he stayed warm. He didn't whack ice on it, which is the normal process what you would do to try and stop the blood coming into the injury.
Warren Smith· Host1:16
Mm.
Paul Kent· Host1:16
He, he, he stayed warm in case he needed to go back out.
Warren Smith· Host1:19
Right.
Paul Kent· Host1:19
Now, he did obviously go back out. Now, what we, uh, are led to believe happened after that is later that night, the blood was going into the muscle, as it does whenever
