If cricket is for sale, what do the players think?

There's been plenty of chat about BBL privatisation so Cricketers Association CEO Paul Marsh joins Corbin to give us the perspective of those at the centre of the competition, the players. Marsh talks through the concerns of the playing group, a new MOU proposal, player payments and possible ownership of teams and the risk to the test schedule.
Given Marsh now sits in the same chair that Cricket Australia Chief Executive Todd Greenberg did less than two years ago, there's an interesting dynamic at play in negotiations and you get a peek behind the curtain on today's episode.

[upbeat music] ABC Cricket Podcast time for your Tuesday. Corbin Middlemass with you. There is no Ed Cowan today, but I'm very pleased to say we have more than a suitable replacement. He's a man who's been in and around cricket his whole life. He was born into a cricketing family. He is the current chief executive of the ACA, and his name is Paul Marsh, and I'm pleased to say he joins me on the ABC Cricket Podcast. Uh, Paul, appreciate your time.

Great to, to be chatting, Corbin. I've been looking forward to this.

So we, we cross over, you and I, obviously, with the footy and cricket- Yeah ... interests and everything else. You've come out of the footy landscape after more than a decade with the players association there, and now you're back in, in your first true love, in cricket. What's it, uh, what's it like being back in the, the cricket universe?
Paul Marsh· Guest0:52
It's, it's been great, actually. It's, um, a change I needed. I think, you know, 11 years in, um, in the footy environment, I've said a few times, felt like probably about 111 years as it's a pretty issue-rich environment. [laughs] So, um, not to say cricket's not, but it's probably a, a, a little quieter and, um, I think the, the issues that we're dealing with in cricket now are extremely interesting. So, and I'm sure we'll talk about it, but, um, private investment in the Big Bash League, obviously an international game that, um, is at a pretty interesting stage at the moment. So yeah, I've, I've really enjoyed being back and reconnecting with a lot of people, including, uh, Ed. Shame he's not here today.
Corbin Middlemas· Host1:27
No.
Paul Marsh· Guest1:28
But, um, but also just dealing with some new issues
