When they write the history books about Trump two, Trump harder, I imagine they'll have to dedicate an entire chapter to Minneapolis. Homeland Security called ICE's Operation Metro Surge the biggest immigration enforcement operation in the department's history. Protestors called it fascism. Two Americans were killed by ICE, and the backlash went nationwide. The Trump administration had to call off the operation. The guy in charge of it lost his job. Eventually, the head of Homeland Security lost her job. There's maybe no better example of the Trump administration making a major course correction. But it's been over six months since that mess, and ICE is back. It's quieter now. There's less shock and awe, but there's a new boss, and deportations are up. And the killings are back, too. We had one last week in Texas and one just this morning in Maine. So we're gonna talk about a second ICE age on Today Explained from Vox.
