This episode of Everybody Has a Secret is brought to you by Your Fault, London, and the forbidden love between Noa and her stepbrother Nick. Watch it now exclusively on Prime Video. [graphics swoosh] So, I think we need to talk about how the word chungus has infiltrated all of our lives and our vocab, et cetera, and that's thanks to you, Charlotte. What do you have to say?
Annabelle Lee· Host0:20
Do I get the flowers for this?
Charlotte White· Host0:21
Yeah. Well, I didn't know... certainly didn't know about chungus until you started saying chungus.
Annabelle Lee· Host0:25
Okay. Well, I'll wait for my round of applause. [clapping] Thank you, guys. Thank you.
Charlotte White· Host0:29
What would you say to those listeners who have never heard of the word chungus? What does it mean? What does it feel like to you?
Annabelle Lee· Host0:35
Because people have asked for a definition. They've been like, "What is that?" 'Cause I say it literally every day.
Charlotte White· Host0:40
Yeah.
Annabelle Lee· Host0:40
'Cause everything is chungus.
Charlotte White· Host0:42
Everything is chungus. It's a state of mind, really.
Annabelle Lee· Host0:44
Oh, yeah, it's, it's literally everything. I, I know- [laughs] ... I define it as... 'cause Zara, um, in the office yesterday asked me what it means, and I was like, "It means disgusting, it means bad, it means disappointing, it means ugly, it means, like, ick." It means everything.
Charlotte White· Host0:59
It also kind of means sad.
Annabelle Lee· Host1:01
Yeah.
Charlotte White· Host1:02
Yeah.
Annabelle Lee· Host1:02
Like, if you're feeling a bit down, it's like, "Oh, chungus."
Charlotte White· Host1:05
Ugh, chungus. Yeah.
Annabelle Lee· Host1:05
Overwhelming chungus, I feel.
Charlotte White· Host1:07
Yeah, exactly.
Annabelle Lee· Host1:07
[laughs] And it's just, it's so liberating to discover a new word, let alone a new slang word.
Charlotte White· Host1:12
And we did, many moons ago, talk about a shushy dictionary- Yes ... on this show.
Annabelle Lee· Host1:18
Mm-hmm.
Charlotte White· Host1:18
We haven't really, like, spoken about it in a while, but I feel like a lot of your words, we can encapsulate in the dictionary.
Annabelle Lee· Host1:24
Absolutely, I'd love that.
Charlotte White· Host1:26
We'll put a pin in it. We'll come to you at some point, maybe in a few weeks-
