I Fell Pregnant at 30… While Single and Working 70-Hour Weeks
4/19/202631 min
This week’s Money Diary is from a 31-year-old nurse who fell pregnant at 30… while single and working 70-hour weeks.
At the time, money wasn’t the problem. She was earning well, picking up shifts, saying yes to everything and just getting on with life. But there wasn’t much structure behind it. It was busy, but not necessarily intentional.
And then everything shifted.
Not because she didn’t have enough, but because she suddenly had a reason to think about money differently. To slow down, to plan, and to actually build something that could support her and her child.
This episode isn’t about starting from scratch. It’s about taking what you already have and learning how to use it properly. It’s about stepping into a new version of your life, ready or not, and figuring it out as you go.
It’s honest, it’s a little bit messy, and it’s a really powerful reminder that you don’t need everything perfectly mapped out to make it work.
Sometimes it’s not about earning more. It’s about getting intentional with what you’ve already got.

[laughs] [laughs] [upbeat music] Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast that lets you be pervy about other people's money stories, for educational purposes, of course. Welcome back to another one of our Money Diaries episodes, brought to you by our friends at Sky Wealth, where I get the absolute privilege of sitting down with one of our incredible She's on the Money community members and talking to them all about their journey. Let's jump straight into it because this week I got a message, and it sounded exactly like this: "Hi, Victoria. I'm 31, a nurse, and a single mum, which wasn't exactly part of the plan. At 30, I unexpectedly fell pregnant while working 70-hour weeks across multiple jobs.
