Sparta chose their warriors not based on [metal clinking] the warrior, but based on the woman behind them.

  2. Jamie Cochran· Guest0:07

The importance of that aspect in our lives as mothers and families and as spouses standing behind our men in those scenarios, it's critical. Some of the best strength I've seen in the leaders that I've had the opportunity to work with are from the women.

  3. Gabrielle Lyon· Host0:21

Should women in leadership or should women in life be competitive with one another?

  4. Jamie Cochran· Guest0:26

Competition amongst women gets a really negative view, but I think that there's a difference between being competitive, which is a good thing, because if we're competing, we're making each other better for that. What I know to be true is that we don't make good decisions when we're emotional. We always have to be detached from our ego, our emotions, our own perspective, and if we can be detached in those moments, we're liable to make much better decisions.

  5. Gabrielle Lyon· Host0:50

[suspenseful music] What about the leaders that are avoidant?

  6. Jamie Cochran· Guest0:57

Problems don't get better with time. They don't. So avoiding things only makes things worse. That's not a good outcome, 'cause then we get to assess, was that the right call? Are we moving in the right direction? And if we're not, we have time to rewrite the ship and get us pointing in the right direction.

  7. Gabrielle Lyon· Host1:12

What are the top three things that leaders do not do well or mistakes that you see over and over again?

  8. Jamie Cochran· Guest1:19

And this might not be something that everyone agrees with, but...
