Hey everybody, a quick thing before we get into the show. We're at the one-year anniversary, and before the end of the month, I really would like to hit 500 reviews on Apple Podcasts. I know it's silly, you know it's silly, but it makes a big difference in getting the show out in front of more people, and I wanna keep doing this show f- forever, and you can help make that happen. So if you have a moment, please head over to Apple Podcasts and leave a review. Thanks so much. [upbeat jingle] Welcome to Post Games, a podcast about how and why we love video games. I am your host, Chris Plante, and I am so happy to have you here today. Grand Theft Auto is not the biggest franchise in the world because of its stories, which are shameless pastiches of superior crime films. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the adventures well enough, but I've also seen Heat. Grand Theft Auto is not the biggest franchise in the world because of its third-person shooting, which is comparatively clunky and fussy and pales alongside its contemporaries. Grand Theft Auto is, however, the biggest franchise in the world because of the tiniest details. A runner jogging with a dog stops for their pet to take a piss. A pickup truck obeys a pedestrian crossing. Planes flying overhead land at the airport, then head off to their next destination.
