How the Hurricanes’ stars could cost them the Stanley Cup

6/3/202653 min

The Golden Knights beat the Hurricanes in a back-and-forth Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. Sean, Frank and Sean dissect the game, praise the Golden Knights’ resilience, the accidental blocked shot by Mitch Marner, the struggles of the Hurricanes’ first line and the indifferent play of goalies Frederick Andersen and Carter Hart. The NHL’s new All-Star Game format and Gary Bettman’s status as NHL commissioner caught the attention of Sean and Sean in what they learned this week.

  1. Sean Gentille· Host0:00

[upbeat music] This is The Athletic Hockey Show. What up? What up? It's The Athletic Hockey Show for June 3rd, 2026. I'm Sean Gentille. I'm here with Sean McIndoe. We are rejoined by Frankie Corrado, who I-- What vehicle did they put you in to send you home? Did-- Was it the, was it a z- like a Zamboni kayak combo?

  2. Sean McIndoe· Host0:44

    It was a Kubota.

  3. Sean Gentille· Host0:44

How did you get back from Kelowna?

  4. Sean McIndoe· Host0:46

No, we got the, we got the Kubota, gave us a ride back home in one of the tractors. It only took us five days, but we made it, man. What a, what a time we were having out there. And I just gotta say, as Gentille, you do a lot of traveling, so maybe this will resonate with you, anyone who's listening who does a lot of traveling. No one prepares you for life after pantry, LAP as I call it. Are you aware of the pantry at some of these hotels? It's a 24-hour room, and it's stocked with coffee, water, chips, fruit, banana bread. At around dinner time, they throw some, like- Cheez-Its ... chicken wings and stuff. And I'm like, you go downstairs, you get home, you're like, "Well, I gotta do it myself now. Where's the pantry?"
