[instrumental music] Good afternoon. I'm Ailish Delaney with the latest from the Quickie newsroom for Tuesday, June 23. Contentious tax reforms are set to become law after Labor and the Greens struck a deal to close a super fund loophole and extend an inquiry into cuts to the NDIS. The minor party has agreed to back changes to negative gearing and the capital gains tax discount after securing amendments, including the closure of a self-managed super fund loophole and protections preventing a future government from easily reversing the reforms. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the package is an important reform in the national interest. Greens leader Larissa Waters says the deal is a step in the right direction, but argues Labor missed an opportunity to properly tackle the housing crisis by grandfathering the arrangements for existing investors.

During a speech at the National Press Club on Wednesday, the One Nation leader said employees should not be paid if they're taking time off work, even if they're on maternity leave. But speaking to Sunrise this morning, Hanson said she was not advocating for the removal of paid parental leave.
