[upbeat music] Good evening. I'm Gemma Bath, with the latest from the Quickie newsroom for Thursday, June 25. A petition has emerged to save Karl Stefanovic after he was reportedly sacked by Channel Nine over his podcast interview with British right-wing activist Tommy Robinson. Activist Drew Pavlou, who is his mate and his podcast's newly hired chief chaos correspondent, is behind the petition, which at the time of recording has close to 5,000 signatures. The Breakfast Show star is Australia's highest paid news presenter and still has six months and more than one million dollars remaining on his contract. Two prominent teal MPs have launched a new political party called Community Strong Australia following months of secret talks. Sydney MPs Zali Steggall and Allegra Spender revealed the party would support community-backed candidates in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The new party won't be choosing between independents and parties, but combining the strengths of both, offering Australians unity over division and reason over rage. Here's Steggall talking to the ABC.
