Greta Wire Shorty: The Aruba Sting, the Missing Arrest, and a Second Murder

5/29/20266 min

This Shorty is a teaser from Greta, who says she has finally obtained, through a FOIA request, the full documents and videotape from the FBI’s 2010 sting operation targeting alleged Natalee Holloway killer, Joran van der Sloot in Aruba. Greta argues the material shows van der Sloot committed extortion on camera in a setup that should have ended with his arrest, but instead he was allowed to walk away and leave Aruba. She frames that decision as catastrophic, because weeks later he went to Peru and murdered Stephany Flores. Greta says the newly obtained records are even worse than expected, including handwritten notes stating “no arrest anticipated,” which she presents as proof the FBI never planned to take van der Sloot into custody despite catching him in the act. She positions the upcoming book chapter and Substack release as a major exposé, promising to publish the documents, emails, and video to show how the Bureau’s failure may have directly enabled a second killing. [outro jingle] Well, here's a shorty. I'm gonna give you a little bit of a tease. You will not believe what I finally got. With the help of the Freedom of Information Act, FOIA, I now have all the documents and the videotape from the 2010 FBI sting in Aruba of Joran van der Sloot. That sting should have resulted in his arrest. He committed a crime with the FBI in the next room videotaping him. But instead, he slipped the FBI. They didn't arrest him, and he left the country, left Aruba. He went off to Peru, and two and a half weeks later, he murdered again. On the five-year anniversary of murdering Natalee, and on the five-year anniversary of meeting Natalee in a casino, he ran into Stephany Flores in a casino, and he took her back to his hotel, and he beat her to death, just exactly like he did with Natalee Holloway. But next month, I'm gonna release a chapter of my book which talks about this sting and how the FBI did not arrest Joran van der Sloot. Had they arrested him on May 10th when they did the sting operation, May 10th, 2010, he never would have gone to Peru and never had an opportunity to murder Stephany Flores. But there's something else. In my FOIA request, I got all the documents about the sting. The sting, by the way, that I was instrumental in setting up, but the FBI had no idea that I was in the background. I was working with John Q. Kelly,
