With George Bellshaw gallivanting in Mexico, Myles David of Tuned into Tennis steps in to the breach, joining Calvin Betton (WORLD NO 1 COACH) and James Gray (WORLD NO 1... er, of being himself) to review Roland Garros 2026. They discussed:

  • Mirra Andreeva is a grand slam champion, overcoming an awkward clash with qualifier Maja Chwalinska in Saturday's final
  • Is this the beginning of a significant run at the top of the game for the Russian?
  • Will Maja Chwalinska get a wildcard?
  • Are the big hitters going to bounce back from big upsets?
  • Alexander Zverev has finally ended his quest for a grand slam title, winning his maiden major at the fourth time of asking, but will it change anything for the German going forward?
  • Can anyone expect to challenge Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon? And does the Italian have something to prove after his heat-related exit from Roland Garros?
  • What does it take to become world No 1? Just ask Calvin Betton! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Hello, and welcome back to Tennis Unfiltered with me, James Gray, of The i Paper. Welcome to our French Open review, Roland-Garros review. We can argue about that later. Um, [laughs] our French Open review episode. Um, thank you very much to everyone who's been, um, listening and participating in the podcast over the last two and a half weeks. Been fabulous to have you. Um, no George Belshaw this evening. He is, uh, gallivanting his way around Mexico and can't work out time zones. Uh, so we've decided to get someone else in different time zone. Uh, we've got Miles David of Tunes Into Tennis, friend of the podcast, um, and, uh, one of the great American voices on tennis, I always say. Miles, how are you?

  3. Miles David· Guest0:39

I'm doing great. Now that I know I'm one of the great American voices in tennis, I'm doing even better.

  4. James Gray· Host0:43

[laughs] I mean, I mean that in both, like, a sort of a, a tonal sense as well as a tennis sense. Um- I'll take it either way ... we like having your dulcet tones.

  5. Miles David· Guest0:51

    [laughs] [laughs] Thank you.

  6. James Gray· Host0:53

Very good. Um, we do, we do, of course, have Calvin Betton, um, and his own stylings of the English language, uh, fresh from Barnsley, um, with us, uh, to go through the, uh, French Open as it's only finished 24 hours ago. I... Sometimes I get home from these Grand Slams and do these podcasts and can't quite believe that 24 hours ago I think I was still writing and still recording. But, um, here we are. Uh, we're gonna do, uh, uh, the podcast is two halves. Miles has very kindly agreed to join us for the first half, and then it'll just be me and Calvin, uh, for the second. I mean, we've given George a little window there, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Anyway, um, and we will start with, I think we'll start with the women's final.
