Glenn Elzinga is a seasoned rancher who has spent 34 years managing Alderspring Ranch in the wild, high-country landscapes of Idaho. Growing up on conventional farms that relied heavily on chemicals and formulaic business models, Glenn's career shifted dramatically after a "clobber over the head" moment forced him to innovate to survive. Today, he and his family manage 47,000 acres of wilderness rangeland, where they have pioneered "inheritance grazing" by living with their cattle 24-7 on horseback to coexist with wolves and maximize plant diversity.

    Hi, friends. This is John. Welcome to the Regenerative Agriculture Podcast, where we have all kinds of fun conversations related to regenerating soil health, and plant health, and public health. It's quite an honor to have Glen Elzinga join me here on the podcast. And many times, you're familiar with I do an introduction, allow people to kind of introduce themselves. This time, Glen and I were o- connected, started having a conversation, and the conversation immediately went from basic introductions and how are yous into this awesome conversation about cattle psychology, some of the things that Glen is working on, things that he's thinking about. And I realized that I need to get the record button pressed, and we need to start recording this awesome conversation. So we just simply jumped directly into a conversation. We didn't give a, a great deal of introduction to Glen's operation. Glen, of course, is very widely known in the livestock grazing space. But for those of you not familiar with his operation, uh, Glen and his family operate Elder Spring Ranch, and, uh, you can find a lot more information available about them online than I can tell you very briefly. But the important part, Glen is working on some very interesting things related to livestock handling and management that I think you'll find very fascinating. Without any further ado, here's Glen.
