Ep.03 | Love Overboard or Love Stripped Down! With David Fuhrmann
5/12/202627 min
From Hulu’s Love Overboard to the Chippendales stage, David Fuhrmann has seen it all. In this episode, he joins Daryn Carp to spill on how his mom convinced him to join reality TV and how he survived the drama using his skills as a mental health counselor.
David gets real about the chaos of dating on camera, from Vegas near-weddings to high-stakes connections with Val and Lo and explains why he’s a "green flag to date, but a red flag to break up with." He manages to stay grounded and even-keeled, proving that you can navigate strategic gameplay without losing your soul in the edit.
About David:
David Fuhrmann went from riding horses on a Texas cattle farm to working as a pediatric trauma therapist. Today, he balances helping kids through tough times with his career in reality TV, bringing a grounded, "small-town" perspective to the big screen.

[upbeat music] Welcome to After the Edit, your go-to for everything reality TV, brought to you by Cash Money Media. I'm Darin Carp, and today, he made waves, needless to say, in Malta during a summer of love, and if you need him to make a decision, just block out about 43 minutes. Uh, recently, he took his talents from the sea to stage as the newest member of the Chippendales crew from Hulu's Love Overboard. David, welcome to After the Edit.
David Fuhrmann· Guest0:27
Thank you. Thank you.
Daryn Carp· Host0:29
We will make this under 43 minutes for you- [laughs] ... 'cause I just wanna- I just wanna grasp that timing for you.
David Fuhrmann· Guest0:33
Right. Fair.
Daryn Carp· Host0:33
I definitely wanna get into the show.
David Fuhrmann· Guest0:35
Okay.
Daryn Carp· Host0:35
I loved it. I love a competition format, but what made you sign up for the show in the first place?
David Fuhrmann· Guest0:40
Um, honestly, I think it was my mom.
Daryn Carp· Host0:45
Your mother?
David Fuhrmann· Guest0:46
I think my mom sent me a posting about it or something like that, and... Oh, no, no, no. No. Uh, they had reached out to me, I think originally, and then I think she had also sent me something from the same thing. Their, like, ad or whatever. They were looking for people. Um, and she was like, "You should, you should do this."
Daryn Carp· Host1:05
Really?
David Fuhrmann· Guest1:06
Yeah.
Daryn Carp· Host1:06
You were single for a while. Like, is your mom, like, trying to encourage you to marry? Like, what's the relationship with your mom like- Um ... that she would know you'd be good?
David Fuhrmann· Guest1:12
I was single for maybe about a year- Okay ... uh, prior. Um, but she was very much aware [laughs] of my, my breakup.
Daryn Carp· Host1:20
Gotcha.
David Fuhrmann· Guest1:20
Uh, and so I think she maybe because of that was like, "Yeah, you should get out there and," you know.
Daryn Carp· Host1:24
Any hesitancies on your part about joining a reality show?
David Fuhrmann· Guest1:28
Definitely.
