20-year-old filmmaker and VFX artist, Kane Parsons, joins the podcast to discuss his incredible story from making short films on YouTube to now directing the feature film, Backrooms, for A24. The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve. Kane joins the podcast to breakdown his history with Backrooms, filmmaking craft, score, cinematography, VFX, clues to look for in the film, mental health and so much more.
Kane was only 16-years-old when he made his first Backrooms short, "The Backrooms (Found Footage)", in 2022. Just 4-years later, he has a major feature getting a wide release in theaters.

Um, I saw the film last night. You had Sam Esmail doing an amazing Q&A at The Grove, and, uh, it's one of the best films I've seen in a long time. And I, I genuinely wanna dive into the craft of it, from the production design, sound design, your cinematography, your score. Um, but I first wanna give an audience just an introduction because for me, and I'll just be honest, I waited to watch your series until I saw the film last night. So this morning- Mm ... I woke up and watched the entire series, and I just wanted to have the perspective of somebody who is entering this world for the first time.
