Finneas, welcome- How's it going, man? ... to my podcast.
Finneas O'Connell· Guest0:02
Thanks so much for having me.
Kevin McCarthy· Host0:03
I'm honored to have you. I've been a fan of yours for so long, and I think a lot of the reason why I've always wanted to talk to you is 'cause I've always felt a cinematic connection to your music.
Finneas O'Connell· Guest0:12
Yeah.
Kevin McCarthy· Host0:12
Um, I always feel like I'm going on a journey. There's an atmospheric arc to everything that you write with Billie, and obviously with Ash, that it's just really amazing to watch. And I remember even, like, the stuff you guys did with Robert Rodriguez at the Hollywood Bowl- Oh, man ... and now with James Cameron.
Finneas O'Connell· Guest0:25
Yeah.
Kevin McCarthy· Host0:25
I mean, there's a cinema, a element tied to it all.
Finneas O'Connell· Guest0:28
Yeah.
Kevin McCarthy· Host0:28
So I open every show with this question, which is, th- this is a TV series, but there's pivotal theatrical experiences that I think are important for the moment we see a film in a m- theater and we realize the communal nature- Mm ... of that. And obviously live concerts have that same or similar feel.
Finneas O'Connell· Guest0:44
Yeah.
Kevin McCarthy· Host0:45
Do you have a pivotal theatrical experience you had growing up?
Finneas O'Connell· Guest0:48
Yeah.
Kevin McCarthy· Host0:48
A movie you saw that meant a lot to you?
Finneas O'Connell· Guest0:49
For sure. I mean, I remember, I'm just in the middle of re-watching them, so it's very fresh, uh, for me. But, um, like, I was probably, like, two or three when the first Lord of the Rings came out.
Kevin McCarthy· Host1:00
Yeah.
Finneas O'Connell· Guest1:01
And so I didn't see that- [laughs] [laughs] ... as a three-year-old. Um, and then there were a few years between each of the, the, you know, follow-ups. So I saw The Two Towers with my dad in theaters, and then I saw The Return of the King, um, in theaters, and so those are, like, those and then I guess maybe, like, Revenge of the Sith- [laughs] ... are, like, my earliest, um, theatrical memories. But those are pretty- Yeah ... you know, they, I, I feel like so many movies fall under this umbrella, but those are, like, big clap, uh,
