Cher invited her over to pray and watched the woman's face contort, her voice drop to a man's register, and her hands claw at Cher's mother. Cabinets moved. Smells drove people into the yard. And Cher discovered something that had been true since childhood. The spiritual realm was not theoretical for her. It was personal.
