Ep 1347 | 50 Years Ago Miss Kay & Phil Made a Daring Move That Changed the Robertsons Forever

6/3/202656 min

The Robertson family’s 50-year Jubilee brings Al and Jase back to the river property that shaped their faith, family, and future in ways they never could have imagined. Al reflects on the full-circle moment of being introduced by Phil through old gospel clips after years of introducing him onstage, while Jase relives a profane phone call that ended with two men driving across state lines to be baptized in floodwaters. The guys dig into double-minded faith, the mirror of God’s Word, the royal law, and why real belief must show up in a transformed life. [upbeat music] I am unashamed. What about you?

  2. Al Robertson· Host0:04

Welcome back to Unashamed. As our listeners, our savvy listeners know, we, uh, record two podcasts when we record. So we're basically still in the same, uh, condition we were for the last podcast. Uh, Zach is off to parts unknown. I know he was out of the country for a while. He may or may not be back, but he's not back with us, so it's just Jase and I back to the core, uh, of how it all began.

  3. Jase Robertson· Host0:32

You know what that means, Al?

  4. Al Robertson· Host0:33

    What's that?

  5. Jase Robertson· Host0:34

That means less interruptions. [laughs] I'm constantly having people come up to me and say, "Why do y'all interrupt each other so much?" [laughs] And I said, "Oh, we're not interrupting." [laughs] That, that's a family heritage that has been passed on.

  6. Al Robertson· Host0:53

    [laughs] That's right.

  7. Jase Robertson· Host0:54

So if that bothers you, just- It's gonna bother you ... remember this is not, we, that's just us making our point. You, you butt in and that's welcome. We welcome that.

  8. Al Robertson· Host1:05

It was, it was funny, Jase. I was gonna forward it to you, but I forgot. One of our listeners had sent me a note. She said I was the Jase whisperer. I guess I used to be the Phil whisperer, so now she thinks I'm the Jase whisperer. She said, "You gotta tell Jase he's interrupting too much." So she blamed you- Yeah ... for the, uh, for the most interruptions.

  9. Jase Robertson· Host1:22

Well, I realize that 99.9% of our culture, they let someone
