Hey, English learners. Welcome to another phrasal verb episode. I hope you're doing well and that you're ready to learn a couple new phrasal verbs today. In this phrasal verb episode, we're gonna look at two phrases. The first one is cover up, and the second one is crack down on. So first, let's define these phrasal verbs. Cover up means to try to keep some crime or error a secret or hidden. For example, I could say the company tried to cover up its illegal activities. In this sentence, I'm saying that the company did illegal things. They engaged in some type of illegal activity, and then they tried to conceal this, to keep this fact a secret so that people wouldn't find out. So they tried to cover it up. So that's cover up. And crack down on means to start dealing with bad or illegal behavior in a more severe way. So for example, I could say, "The boss is starting to crack down on employees who arrive late to work."
