Dovie Neuberger | The Rabbi's Son Who Blames You
2/28/20261 hr 40 min
This episode of the Meaningful People Podcast features Dovi Neuburger, a popular comedian and influencer who grew up as the son of a prominent rabbi and built his brand by poking at the frum world from the inside. In this conversation, he opens up about guilt over influencing younger followers, using religious culture as comedy material, and whether Jewish "inspiration" today is actually inspiration or just kosher entertainment. He challenges institutions, questions tuition, takes aim at the over-correction of emotional Judaism, and doesn't shy away from uncomfortable debates about shidduchim, schools, and community politics
It's funny, sharp, and at times confrontational. From Rabbi's son stereotypes to anti-Semitism content, from Thank You Hashem culture to whether kids should ever be thrown out of yeshiva, this episode doesn't tiptoe around anything.

I tried really hard to become the black sheep. Being the black sheep of the big rabbi family is good for the brand, you know, for a comedian. [laughs] To say there is no scenario in the world where a kid w- warrants being thrown out of a school, it- it's just not true. I'm obsessed with, like, tuition and schooling and why, uh, that's so expensive, and it doesn't need to be.
Nachi Gordon· Host0:16
Do you think it doesn't need to be?
Dovi Neuberger· Guest0:17
No. The people who are mad that tuition is so high, it's their fault.
Nachi Gordon· Host0:21
So it's my fault?
Dovi Neuberger· Guest0:21
Yeah. A wealthy Jewish philanthropist could give away 80% of their money and still have most people mad at them.
Nachi Gordon· Host0:29
If you could choose one, which one would you choose?
Dovi Neuberger· Guest0:31
Want Veer to, to lose all his money. [laughs] This new, we have to have a different week of vacation for every slice of the pie of Orthodoxy is insane. It sounds like something that was cooked up in the mind of an insecure modern Orthodox flip-out. If you're nervous about your kids on the boardwalk in Florida, like, talking to half the girls, you don't know what's on the boardwalk in Florida. Like, that is not your issue. There are for sure too many organizations that do the exact same thing. It i- will save the community money if you have bigger, less institutions than a lot of tiny little ones.

But what you're suggesting is kind of like, it's kind of like socialism. [upbeat music] Hello, everybody. Welcome back to The Beautiful People podcast. Yes, I sat down with Dovi Neuberger. Funny guy.
