[outro music] Hi, my name is Father Mike Schmitz, and you're listening to the Bible in a Year podcast, where we encounter God's voice and live life through the lens of scripture. The Bible in a Year podcast is brought to you by Ascension. Using the Great Adventure Bible timeline, we'll read all the way from Genesis to Revelation, discovering how the story of salvation unfolds and how we fit into that story today. It is day one hundred and sixty-nine. We are reading from First Kings twenty-two, Second Chronicles twenty-three, and the final chapter of the Song of Solomon. Song of Solomon, chapter eight. As always, the Bible translation that I'm reading from is the Revised Standard Version, Second Catholic Edition. I am using the Great Adventure Bible from Ascension. If you want to download your own Bible in a Year reading plan, you can visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. As I said, today is day one sixty-nine, and we are reading only three chapters today. First Kings twenty-two, the last chapter of First Kings, Second Chronicles twenty-three, and the last chapter of the Song of Solomon, chapter eight. The First Book of Kings, chapter twenty-two. Judah and Israel join to fight the Syrians. For three years Syria and Israel continued without war, but in the third year Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel. And the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that Ramoth-gilead belongs to us, and we keep quiet and do not take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?” And he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to battle at Ramoth-gilead?”
