[on-hold music] Hi, my name's Father Mike Schmitz, and you're listening to the Bible in a Year podcast, where we encounter God's voice and live life through the lens of Scripture. The Bible in a Year podcast is brought to you by Ascension. Using the Great Adventure Bible timeline, we'll read all the way from Genesis to Revelation, discovering how the story of salvation unfolds and how we fit into that story. Today, it is day one hundred and thirty-five. We are reading three chapters today. First from Second Samuel, chapter seventeen, then First Chronicles twenty-two, and we're finally praying Psalm thirty-six. As always, the Bible translation that I'm using is the Revised Standard Version, the Second Catholic edition, and I'm reading from the Great Adventure Bible from Ascension. If you want to download your own Bible in a Year reading plan, you can visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear, and you can subscribe to this podcast by clicking on Subscribe. As I said, it is day one hundred and thirty-five. Also, good job. So good. What a gift. And we're reading Second Samuel, chapter seventeen, First Chronicles twenty-two, and Psalm thirty-six. Second Book of Samuel, chapter seventeen. The counsel of Ahithophel continued. Moreover, Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Let me choose twelve thousand men, and I will set out and pursue David tonight. I will come upon him while he is weary and discouraged and throw him into a panic, and all the people who are with him will flee. I will strike down the king only, and I will bring all the people back to you as a bride comes home to her husband. You seek the life of only one man, and all the people will be at peace." And the advice pleased Absalom and all the elders of Israel. The counsel of Hushai.
