  1. Paul Scheer· Host0:00

Now I wanna talk to you about a man who knows no fear of plot, story, or compelling characters. We saw Daredevil, so you know what that means.

  2. Speaker 2· Soundbite0:11

Now it's time for How Did This Get Made. We're gonna have a good time, celebrate some failure, not just be a hater, 'cause you know you wonder, how did this get made? Let's wallow in the mediocrity of subpar art. Perhaps we'll find the answer to the question, how did this get made?

  3. Paul Scheer· Host0:30

Hello, people of Earth, and welcome to How Did This Get Made. I am Paul Scheer, joined as always by my two co-hosts, uh, Jason Mantzoukas. How are you, Jason?

  4. Jason Mantzoukas· Host0:37

    I'm good, Paul.

  5. Paul Scheer· Host0:38

[laughs] And June Diane Raphael. How are you, June?

  6. June Diane Raphael· Host0:41

    I'm great, thanks, Paul.

  7. Paul Scheer· Host0:42

Uh, we have a very special treat today. We have, uh, writer extraordinaire Ed Brubaker joining us. Uh, you might know him from the Criminal series, Fatale, Captain America, and, uh, Daredevil, which is, uh, very excited to have you. You are an ex- you are an expert, actually, for this movie.

  8. Ed Brubaker· Guest0:56

Yeah. I'm, I'm, I'm pretty much an expert. [laughs] Yeah.

  9. Paul Scheer· Host0:58

Um, so Daredevil, not a failure of a movie. And we should say that right at the top. Like, as far as financially- You mean in terms of making money? Yes.

  10. Ed Brubaker· Guest1:07

Okay. Yeah, it made- Financially, made a lot. Yeah.

  11. Paul Scheer· Host1:10

It spawned a sequel, uh, with not Daredevil- Oh, boy ... with Elektra.

  12. Ed Brubaker· Guest1:13

    Ugh.

  13. Paul Scheer· Host1:14

    Uh [laughs] Spin-off. Spin-off.

  14. Ed Brubaker· Guest1:15

[laughs] It's like a ba- it was a backdoor pilot for the Elektra- [laughs] Yes ... movie series.

  15. Paul Scheer· Host1:19

[laughs] Well, now, I... Th- there's two movie, there's two cuts of this, uh, film. There's a theatrical cu- cut and the director's cut. Ed, you've watched them both.
