Danny and the team travel back to Canada in the 1870s to investigate the Great Amherst Mystery - one of the most famous and perplexing paranormal cases to come to light during the Golden Age of Spiritualism.

18 year old Esther Cox is the centre of a series of inexplicable, possibly paranormal events - phantom knocking, ghostly messages, and a series of spontaneous fires that start inside the walls of her house.

But is she the victim of a possible paranormal entity, or the mastermind of a devious hoax?

We will be coming back to that and all of our other investigations this series in a special case update episode right at the end of the series. But right now, we've got a truly extraordinary story for you, a famous one in fact, from the paranormal archives. We're going back to 1879. An American actor called Walter Hubbell has come all the way to the small town of Amherst to try and debunk a supposed poltergeist that has made headlines across North America. The haunting seemed to revolve around a young woman called Esther Cox. She's been seemingly plagued by phantom noises, spontaneous fires, and injuries that she says were caused by something supernatural.
