Carrick ‘recommended’ for Man United job

5/14/202658 min

Manchester United will face Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford this Sunday and there should be a good feeling about the place. Results have been close to perfect under Michael Carrick and we understand the club's executive team will recommend his appointment as permanent head coach.

So, hopefully Carrick will be staying on, but Casemiro will say a fond farewell to the home crowd after four emotionally charged seasons. The Brazil captain has shown admirable qualities to weather various storms and is arguably having his best spell as he prepares to leave.

Long before that, almost as this podcast goes out, we'll know how the U18s have fared in the FA Youth Cup final. It's a first Manchester derby since 1986 and controversy around the late change of venue adds an extra spice to an already interesting match-up; winning would represent a real achievement for United in English youth football's highly competitive environment.

What does it say about the club and about him, the send-off that he's getting? And we'll also look ahead to the FA Youth Cup final, which takes place a little bit later on against Manchester City. So hello, everyone. Carl and Laurie and Andy are all here. Um, feels like a good week this for United. Lots happening, uh, important things happening. We'll get into all the details of it, but we need to start with the news, Laurie, that Michael Carrick is being recommended for the permanent head coach's role at Manchester United.

Yeah, it is, I think, a moment of significance because it's been the big question, hasn't it, up until this point. Will United continue with Michael Carrick? Will they, you know, go for somebody else? They've obviously been sounding out other candidates and been weighing it up up to this
