The Scottish Football Podcast On BBC Radio Scotland [upbeat music] I'm delighted to say we are joined on the line now by Tim Vickery, um, the South American football correspondent for BBC Sport. Great to chat with you again, Tim. I am apologizing in advance that we have, uh, subjected you to Hugh MacDonald for a second successive day.
Tim Vickery· Guest0:24
[laughing] [laughing] No worry.
Richard Gordon· Host0:27
Uh- It's all always a pleasure.
Tim Vickery· Guest0:28
How you doing, gentlemen? Optimistic?
Richard Gordon· Host0:30
Yeah, yeah.
Tim Vickery· Guest0:30
Um, no.
Richard Gordon· Host0:31
You're not really?
Tim Vickery· Guest0:32
[laughing] Well, we're Scottish. [laughing] I mean, I'm optimistic in the sense that I think, I still think we will qualify with three points almost irrespective of- Yeah ... what happened against Brazil.
Richard Gordon· Host0:40
I, I think- But I can't say I'm confident ... I think it's a massive step forward, uh, against Morocco.
Tim Vickery· Guest0:43
Mm.
Richard Gordon· Host0:43
And, and I think if we can do that again, step forward again, then I think we can get a point out of the match. Well, there, there was a step forward for Scotland, but Tim, there was certainly a step forward for Brazil in the, the second game against Haiti compared to the opener against, uh, Morocco.
Tim Vickery· Guest0:56
Indeed. Although, let me take you down because we're going to a Copa America played in the States 10 years ago.
Richard Gordon· Host1:04
Yeah.
Tim Vickery· Guest1:04
Uh, and, uh, Brazil met Haiti in their second game, and they won 7-1. The game before they were held to a nil-nil by Ecuador. The game afterwards, they lost 1-0 to Peru and were, were eliminated in the group stages. So all those goals against Haiti didn't do them any good at all. Uh, and I suppose one lesson that we can draw from that is you can't read too much into, in, into a rabbit killing. [laughs] Um, but it has been a boost to, to morale.
