Boudica and the Iceni

6/18/202657 min

In 60 AD Roman Britain was very nearly brought to the brink. Cities burned, authority crumbled, and for a brief moment one woman challenged the might of the Roman Empire. Her name was Boudica.

Today, Tristan Hughes is joined by novelist and historian Elodie Harper to explore the life and legend of Boudica, the Iceni queen responsible for such rebellious devastation. They discuss the brutal events that sparked her uprising, the role played by her daughters and their wider Iceni world, and how Roman power was shaken by her campaign, revealing a story of resistance, vengeance, and the limits of empire.

Today, we're talking about something that doesn't get enough airtime, how the wireless bill of all things is doing real work in household budgets. So you brought me this stat, T-Mobile customers had the lowest wireless bills versus Verizon and AT&T over the past five years. That seems surprising.

  3. Speaker 30:43

Yeah. When I first heard it, I thought, "Mm-kay." But when the experts at Harris X broke it down, it was true for millions of families, five years of the lowest wireless bills versus Verizon and AT&T. And in this area, where every monthly bill gets noticed, that kind of savings makes a real difference.

  4. Speaker 20:58

Plus a five-year price guarantee on experience plans on America's best network. I'm not hearing any sacrifice here.

  5. Speaker 31:02

Which is what people need right now, reliability, predictability. That kind of breathing room makes a weekend on the coast a little easier to plan. Affordable wireless service isn't a perk. It's a difference. And listeners, if you don't believe me, you can check it out at t-mobile.com/switch.

Savings based on Harris X billing snapshots from Q3 '21 to Q4 '25, compared to average AT&T and Verizon bills. Comparison excludes discounts, credits, and optional charges. For more details, see harrisx.com/t-mobile-bills.
