If you haven't heard about somebody's difficult marriage, don't assume that it didn't exist. I think sometimes people feel surprised when their friends are getting divorced. Like, "Oh my God, but you seemed like you were so together. I... You know, we're friends, and you never told me anything was wrong." Well, you know, I think for so many people, that a difficult marriage can be kept private, and oftentimes people feel like they don't wanna tell other people because they don't want other people's [laughs] advice or judgment. But sometimes they don't wanna tell other people because they can't say it out loud to themselves 'cause they're not ready. So sometimes people go through years and years of a very difficult marriage, and they don't tell anybody, partly because they're not ready to act. And then when they finally tell somebody or tell other people, those people can be surprised. But, um, don't assume that somebody's making an impulsive decision. I have never met somebody who impulsively decided to get divorced just because he left the toilet seat up or she forgot the anniversary. Like, that's not why people get divorced, so believe them.
