Welcome to Back to Back Barry's, a podcast from Guardian Australia. Well, budget Tuesday week, and we already know one initiative that won't be in it. There will be no increases to the taxes on gas exports. The government's position seems to be, if you weren't so naive, you wouldn't have called for it in the first place. And I'll, I'll explain what I mean by that a little later on. Something else that won't be in the budget, uh, not this one anyway, is Angus Taylor's idea for, uh, increasing fuel reserves and bringing back refineries, which will mean an extra cent per liter to pay for it. And beyond that, Gina Rinehart has gifted Pauline Hanson a plane, and a couple of her associates threw in half a million dollars each for good measure, all on the eve of the federal by-election in Farrer, now a week away. And I've just come back from Charles Sturt University in Albury, where I hosted a debate with nine of the 12 candidates. And Tony, I want to set it up with a, with a couple of highlights. Uh, the first I raised about the Liberal Party's and the National Party's controversial decision to preference One Nation ahead of the strong independent candidate, uh, Michelle Milthorpe. Uh, the Liberal candidate is, uh, Razah Bukowski. Uh, sh- there's a couple of references here to Brad. Brad is Brad Robertson, the, the National Party candidate.
