This audio is brought to you by Muslim Central. In this lecture, we are going to explore one of the most beautiful names and attributes of Allah, Ash-Shakur. As a Muslim, we are taught the different names of Allah through his book, the Quran, and through his messengers and prophets. And Allah has many names and many attributes, all the most beautiful. Some of them we know, some of them we don't know. But one of the most beautiful things about them is that they connect us to him. They let us know who he is as our creator and lord. And they play a significant role in how we enjoy our life and in how we get through thick and thin no matter what has happened to you. This name, Ash-Shakur, means the most appreciative. Appreciation does not necessarily mean that you are thanking someone for a service they did for you. To appreciate something means to show gratitude and acknowledge the good that someone has done without necessarily a form of reciprocation. So when we say Allah is Ash-Shakur, the most appreciative whose appreciation does not run out, we are not talking about Allah needing our thanks. We're not talking about Allah yearning or wanting us to constantly say to him thank you for this or that. Nor is it an exchange, for Allah does not need anyone's worship or thanks.
