Arsecast Extra Episode 700 - 22.06.2026
6/22/20261 hr 18 min
In this episode we discuss the Premier League fixture list which was released late last week, as that's about the only Arsenal related news there is at the moment. Then attention turns to the World Cup and some of more interesting results, not least small nations like Curacao and Cape Verde producing excellent results against more storied opposition. We also talk about how the ad-breaks are being viewed by fans but unfortunately not enough people with stature in the game are scathing enough about them, the first of a kind red card for Miguel Almiron, before we answer questions about the left-hand side transfer plans this summer, whether we need to sign a striker and what kind of profile that player might be, some of the punditry on US television involving Thierry Henry, whether £100m+ is the going rate for a Premier League midfielder, and lots more. Well, some more. We did our best!

[upbeat music] Hello and welcome to another Arsecast Extra, as always, with James from Gunnerblog. James, good morning to you from good afternoon here.
James McNicholas· Host0:19
Oh, thank you very much, Andrew, and for laying out that time difference so beautifully. I do get confused. I, I frequently catch myself googling time in UK- [laughs] ... um, [laughs] so trying to ascertain whether it's appropriate to call my family or not.
Andrew Mangan· Host0:35
Yeah, it does get a bit weird, but you just need to add where you're in Chicago, so add six.
James McNicholas· Host0:39
Yeah, but once it goes past 12, I lose track. Do you know what I mean? Like the, the midday- It goes back to one ... shift.
Andrew Mangan· Host0:47
It goes back to one again.
James McNicholas· Host0:47
It goes back to one.
Andrew Mangan· Host0:48
Yeah.
James McNicholas· Host0:48
I can't-- I, I'm a decimal guy, Andrew. [laughs] I can't get my head around that.
Andrew Mangan· Host0:52
Are you a 24-hour clock guy? Like on your phone is your, uh, is your- What a good question.
James McNicholas· Host0:58
Yeah, I am a 24-hour clock guy, so I guess I've got no excuse.
Andrew Mangan· Host1:01
Mm.
James McNicholas· Host1:01
Um, I feel like, uh, 12-hour clock is bigger here in America. That's one of my observations. Whenever I say like a 24-hour clock time, people look at me like I'm in the army.
Andrew Mangan· Host1:14
But you never- You know. You never tell that-- the time. If someone asks you the time, you never say, "It's 15:13." You go- I do.
James McNicholas· Host1:21
"17:38, sir!" [laughs] Like that. That's how I, that's how I say the time.
Andrew Mangan· Host1:26
Is that how you do it? Okay. Fair enough.
James McNicholas· Host1:28
Yeah.
Andrew Mangan· Host1:28
No wonder people are looking at you askance.
