ANTOINETTE LATTOUF: Women Who Win
5/4/202655 min
Antoinette Lattouf decided she'd won before her court case was over. In the midst of a ground-breaking fight against her unfair dismissal from the ABC, Antoinette turned to the annals of history, desperately searching for stories of women in Australian history who have fought similar battles. She found strength in what they'd been through, and has intertwined her own saga with these amazing women's fights in her new book Women Who Win. Abbie and Antoinette discuss the cost of speaking up, what it means to show up as an ally, facing the grief of 'what could have been' and much more.

It's A Lot is recorded on Gadigal land. We pay our respects to the traditional custodians of this land and to elders past and present. We also would love to extend our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people listening today and remind you all that sovereignty was never ceded and it always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
Antoinette Lattouf· Guest0:17

Abbie Chatfield· Host0:25

Antoinette Lattouf· Guest0:36

And I think we'll be crying the whole episode.
Antoinette Lattouf· Guest0:38
Yeah.
Abbie Chatfield· Host0:38
I've already cried- [laughs] ... even just talking to you before. We've had to have a pause and a glass of water.
Antoinette Lattouf· Guest0:43
We did.

Antoinette Lattouf· Guest0:55
Thanks, Abby.
Abbie Chatfield· Host0:56
For anyone who doesn't know your story, can you give a quick synopsis? 'Cause I feel like I would give a synopsis and it would be far too long.
Antoinette Lattouf· Guest1:03
Oh, gosh.
Abbie Chatfield· Host1:03
But you're probably trained on- Okay ... giving, you know, you've probably had to do it a million times going, "These are, these are the highlights of what happened and why this book exists."
Antoinette Lattouf· Guest1:11
Sure, okay. So I have been, uh, like a journalist and a presenter and a commentator for many, many years. Um, some people may have known my previous work, but a lot of people know me as, oh, that chick who got fired from the ABC- Mm. [laughs] ... and sued them. Like, as my daughter who's just out here, um, while we record this, has said to me, she's like, "Mommy,
