This podcast is part of the Sports Social Podcast Network We're in Liverpool in the city center, and we're joined by an old, but unfortunately soon to be departing friend, uh, Andy Robertson. Andy, thanks for coming to speak to us, uh, one last time, if that's not too dramatic. Um, really appreciate your time in what is, I'm sure, a very busy period when a lot of people want to speak to you.
Andy Robertson· Guest0:20
No problem at all. Look forward to it.
John Gibbons· Host0:23
Well, we're going to go all the way back, if you don't mind, because you, you might have heard a little bird, he might have told you we're doing a documentary all about you. And so we wanted to track your journey to Anfield as well as talk about your time here. So when you were a kid, what was it that you loved about football?
Andy Robertson· Guest0:40
I think I was always a kid that couldn't sit still. I think that was the problem with, you know, my mom and dad trying to keep me entertained and things like that when I was, uh, when I was younger. So I just loved that I could just go out on the pitch and just run about. And, um, you know, me and my brother always done it when we were younger. And I just think back then it was probably a different generation to now. Do you know what I mean? In terms of we just played on the streets, we kicked the ball against the wall. If we didn't have a ball, we'd kick a stone against, like, it was just, we always played football, everyone in the street. And, um, yeah, it probably took my energy down ever so slightly that it might have been a little bit easier for mom and dad to get me to bed when, um, when it was time.
John Gibbons· Host1:20
It's funny because to go forward a bit, when you were at Dundee United, you know, the lads have said when you had a day off, you'd still all go and play football. And it was just about like bearing that energy.
