[bass music] Hello, friends, and Happy Father's Day weekend, and welcome to a very special episode of The Way I Heard It. Just how special is this episode? Well, [laughs] I'll let you decide. Uh, my guest was going to be my dad. Obviously, it's Father's Day, and I have much I would like to say to him in front of a large audience, because what better way to pay a tribute to somebody you care about than to publicly proclaim your fondness and gratitude for said person? Well, my dad is, uh, busy. [laughs] Yeah. He has a bocce ball tournament this weekend, I think, or maybe it's a pool tournament, or both, or maybe it's shuffleboard. [sighs] The old man's got a lot going on. Ninety-three years old, living his best life over there at Oak Crest. So instead, I reached out to my mother, because my mom always has something interesting to say about my dad. But Peggy Rowe, I'm sorry to say, is, um, also very busy. Terribly, [laughs] terribly busy. My mom has a, uh... She's under deadline, uh, delivering her next book. Good for her. So she's back there writing away as my dad is playing shuffleboard or bocce or pool. So I thought, "Ah, maybe I'll just talk with Chuck for a while, you know, about the occasion."
