When investigators arrived at a small home in rural Ohio to serve an unrelated warrant, they had no idea they were about to uncover what authorities have since called one of the worst cases of child neglect they had ever seen. Hidden inside the home were 16 children ranging in age from just over a year old to 18, allegedly living in conditions so horrific that officials described them as "pure evil." As the investigation unfolded, disturbing details began to emerge about the isolated family, the four adults now facing dozens of charges, and the question everyone is asking: How could so many children disappear from public view for years without anyone noticing?
