197. The AIDS Crisis

6/23/20261 hr 30 min

In the early 1980s, doctors in the US started noticing clusters of unusual illnesses like cancers and pmeumonia in healthy young men, the only thing that connected them, was that they were sexually active with other men. An epidemic emerged, a disease with no name, as a mysterious, highly fatal illness. It sparked widespread panic and devastating personal loss. A crisis heavily defined by government inaction and societal stigma, thousands of lives lost to HIV/AIDS.
