5/11/202619 min

My ADHD son struggles with impulse control. A LOT. And there have been a lot of lectures, we've talked about solutions, we've done "everything" to address the challenge. But what I share in the episode is the only thing that has made meaningful change and it's amazing how rooted in neuroscience it is!

After you listen to this, make sure you sign up for my free masterclass so you can learn about all the other 7 steps that make getting to THIS step possible. Once these are in place and flowing, all you'll ever have to do going forward is look at the 8 steps to figure out what went wrong and which of the 8 steps do I need to improve and then try again.

In this podcast, you'll gain transformational tools that take you from reacting to every frustration, to responding with clarity, regulation, and finally setting the example you desire for your kids. I'm Becky Jennings, your new parenting coach, and this is the Response-Able Parenting Podcast. Let's get into it. Today we're gonna talk about how my son became really successful in overcoming one of his impulses. Now, impulses are very, very, very much the front and center thing that we deal with on a regular basis with ADHD. Impulse control can almost feel like there's no shot at getting this to change, that there's no shot in making any sort of difference, that honestly the only thing that's gonna help is medication because something needs to dull the impulses because it's way too much. But I am here to say that we had a lot of success by following my eight-step process when it came to taking it too far with his friends. Taking it too far, that can always be a really shameful, frustrating, really challenging place
